And finally the moment you all expected, the mysterious ‘The Phantom Pain’ revealed at last year’s VGA’s has been announced to really be Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Instead of following Solid Snake, the game puts us back in control of the series antagonist Big Boss after a 9 year coma.
Obviously for the casual fan of Metal gear such as myself, calling this Metal Gear Solid 5, but basing it before even Metal Gear Solid is a tad confusing, but remember Metal Gear Solid 2: Snake Eater was exactly the same. The game has been revealed to be coming to both Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, but going off the current gameplay (which is running on PC) we should defiantly expect this for PS4 and the next generation Xbox console.
There was a bit of confusion during the reveal, relating to whether both The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Ground Zeroes were actually Metal Gear Solid V. But things have now been clarified, Ground Zeroes is a prequel of sorts to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Wow, this whole announcement and confusion makes me want a site down! Make sure to check out the trailer above and the 6 minute gameplay footage from MGSV below.
