You may remember that former Bungie composer, Marty O’Donnell, was terminated ‘without cause’ only a few months ago. This resulted in O’Donnell taking legal action against the former Halo and current Destiny developer.
Bungie are now being forced to pay Marty O’Donnell £57,000 ($95k), this covers all unpaid work and vacation time along with other benefits.
To this day, it is still unclear why Bungie decided to let go of the award winning composer after completing his work on Destiny. With Bungie claiming that Destiny will have a 10 year life span, it is unknown if O’Donnell completed scoring all of the games expansions. If not, a new composer will have very large boots to fill.
Gamer UK hope O’Donnell’s career has not come to an end. Will he join 343 Studios and begin to score for their upcoming Halo titles? Lets hope so.
Why do you think O’Donnell was fired from Bungie? Does he deserve more after working with Bungie for over 10 years, all the way through the halo series? Let us know your thoughts on Facebook, Twitter or in the comments below.
